Gridlock on the Vestal Pkwy

Happily heading west to Walmart around 1:30pm. Suddenly a solid 20 minutes of crawl. Traffic backed up from Vestal miles all the way back to Binghamton. 2 lanes into 1. Working on a traffic light before Vestal Plaza. Heavy traffic from Vestal Ave feeding into the gridlock at that intersection. SO we had 3 lanes into 1... Work finished. OK now.

"A DOT study indicated the signals at the intersection could result in a 15 to 20 second delay during busy periods for eastbound drivers."

15 to 20 second delay during BUSY times???? Are we talking about the same intersection? I guess in an 'inflation is good, the border is secure, crime is under control' world narrative that would make sense. I'm surprised they didn't say the signals will actually make the eastbound commute faster.....

"The report indicated additional stops and queuing could increase the potential for rear-end crashes for eastbound motorists approaching Plaza Drive."

Really? How much $ did we spend on that study to state the obvious?

Motorists making the usually-quick trip between downtown Binghamton the Vestal town line Monday discovered the Parkway was more like a parking lot. A typical two-minute ride turned into a 22-minute scenic journey next to the Susquehanna River.

Good questions.

How many trees were cut down for the “Greenway”?

Mayor Ryan’s roundabout study was classic

Yep. Even worse was the BC Transit one 6-7 yrs ago? Results mentioned that they’d been going to the former IBM Glendale site multiple times per day, and ‘IBM hadn’t been there since some time in the 90’s’…completely ignoring the hundreds of state workers that HAD been there since the mid-90’s, as if the buses had been going to an empty site. So they got rid of many trips there, and added more trips to the Mall. And nobody questioned it! And we paid for that lameass study.

Holy cow, I mentioned that o/l and got piled on by a bunch of libs screaming about how Bing would be a cowtown without BU, ad nauseum.

Binghamton was always a small town. Those wanting it as a big city put it on the road to ruin.

One last clear chance was offered to set things right. Sadly, that offer was very, very stupidly rejected.
