Obama Stimulus

You are just in denial. People were able to get loans they couldn't afford. That's what caused this mess- greed and irresponsibility.

Denial ain't just a river in Chicago, ja know?

DOW closed at 7062, down 112 today. This is the DOW's lowest in 12 years, the low for the year and the low for the month. Obama and his liberal cohorts have to be proud of the impact that the "change" he has promised for us has generated NO confidence at all in the financial markets. It started with his unbelievably expensive stimulus package rammed through Congress and continues with his pork ladened budget and poorly conceived recent bank rescue efforts.

Before you brainwashed liberals respond with your typical "its all Bushes fault" response, the financial markets are responding to Obamas liberal entitlement expanding social engineering concentration in what he has done to date and expressing no confidence in the direction he is taking and the incredible expense he is placing on the backs of our future, our children.

Then, to top it off, he is making it clear in his new budget proposals that the expense burden is going to be placed primarily on the "rich" which happens to be those people and companies that hire the new employees Obama is hoping to stimulate. In other words, his new taxation schemes will act as a disincentive to growth.

Obama and his socialist supporters in Congress are the biggest danger our country has ever confronted. This is very scary.

randbdrummer also recently posted additional confirmation of Obama's disastrous start.

I learned a long time ago to not listen to a drug addict alcoholic that have been married three times.

But, maybe my morals are different then yours.

First of all, it is quite clear that you are not interested in presenting an opinion and then defending it with an open mind, based on your rhetoric.

Face it....the situation that we are in is not to be completely blamed on a President who has been in office for 6 weeks. It is to blamed on both parties who have alternately held a majority in Congress or who have held the Presidency. Do you think that a depression is resolved in that time frame...6 weeks? Do you honestly think that the makings of this time of troubles only took 6 weeks to develop, or that somehow it skipped and was dormant when Republicans were in power? BOTH parties are responsible. The roots of this illness go back for a couple of decades at least. If you want to just spout Rush Limbaugh rhetoric, then do so.

Remember when you do so that President Bush was President for two terms, and had a majority in both Houses of Congress for 6 years. This mess also started on his watch, and nothing was done to prevent it..

I'll gladly concede that President Obama's solutions have much to be desired (so far, in theory), if you'll concede that the Republicans have an equal role in not addressing this before it blew up.

If you can't do that, then you are a partisan hypocrite who does not have an interest in actually solving problems, and who would rather spout off lines from the only talking heads that you listen to.

That kind of attitude is why Obama won the election, so thanks for your efforts on his behalf. I'd be very happy if the Republicans got their poop together.

Good response. I liked it. It is reasoned and well expressed. As the poster you were referring to, though, I do have some comments:

I did try to express an opinion. My opinion, perhaps not as clearly worded as it could have been, is that Obama and his liberal Congress and advisors are off to a very wrong start. The stimulus package is not a stimulus at all, but a political payback pork ladened bill to reward his supporters and to move our country dramatically toward a big government socialist welfare state creating more entitlements to the non-productive segment of our society. Then, he follows up by starting to socialize our banking system, and then follows that up with a huge earmark laden budget that creates many new taxes, increases what is defined as earnings, deletes tax deductions and defines the true liberal socialist agenda of his party. The financial markets seem to feel the same way as indicated by the sharp drop in the DOW.

Your point about the blame for this crisis being shared by both parties is accurate. I agree. This thread, though, is not about how we got here, but how poorly Obama has conceived and implemented his solutions.

I desperately want this problem resolved and have a direction that I, and many others feel, would be a better one to accomplish this. First of all, a true stimulus is needed. One that has an affect immediately, not some programs that would start to have an affect many years from now. Secondly, politics should not be part of the solution. Forget political payback to supporters and concentrate only on the problem and spend money only on programs that are a true stimulus. Thirdly, encourage the American strength that has made us great, and that is the free enterprise system and the entrepreneurial spirit of individuals and companies. This plan is placing all our reliance on more and bigger government that wants to regulate and tax that segment of our society that has made us great.

That is why the DOW is tanking.

It would be this kind of stratagie and the condemnation of those that have worked to earn their wealth that will be the downfall of this president and his tax and spend ideals.

The tax increases would raise an estimated $318 billion over 10 years by reducing the value of such longstanding deductions as mortgage interest and charitable contributions for people in the highest tax brackets. Households paying income taxes at the 33% and 35% rates can currently claim deductions at those rates. Under the Obama proposal, they could deduct only 28% of the value of those payments.

The changes would be phased in gradually over the next few years. For the 2009 tax year, the 33% tax bracket starts with couples with taxable earnings of $208,850, when adjusted for personal exemptions and various deductible expenses. A taxpayer in the top bracket paying $1,000 of mortgage interest, for example, would see a tax break worth $350 reduced to $280.

During his presidential campaign, Mr. Obama promised not to raise taxes on families earning under $250,000 a year, and the administration said that this plan would roughly line up with that limit.

Ask rocco if he is breaking a campaign issue with this little lie.

Here's another example of Obama's double speak. He said he would not raise taxes on those earning under $250,000. But now, his new budget incorporates a huge tax on the energy suppliers. This means huge taxes on those companies that drill for and refine our gasoline. What happens then? Those taxes get passed along to consumers which ends up being a regressive taxes on everyone, even if they make no money and are collecting welfare.

Americans will soon see Obama, Reid and Pelosi for what they are. They will wish they had placed their confidence in someone other than a smooth talking con man who has never run anything prior to being elected president.

Quite scary.

Just so I have it straight. If the dow goes up oon a day - that means that obama is doing a good job that day. if it goes down on any given day, that means he is doing a bad job that day. is that about what your theory is?

Rocco, Rocco, Rocco. It must be tough to be you and try to defend what your liberal socialist entitlement government is doing to our country.

You know how the market works (at least I'm assuming you do which may or may not be correct). Since Obama has become president along with Pelosi's House and Reid's Senate, the market has tanked. February was the worst month for the DOW since 1933. The market anticipates the future. The market is indicating they have no confidence in your completely inexperienced con man's leadership so far. Most Americans are very concerned. You can't be proud of or even pretend to defend what your government leadership has done so far.

This is not the change that most Americans were anticipating or voted for.

Rocco, Rocco, Rocco. It must be tough for you to try to get your point across to these people. Isn't there a more intelligent forum for you to participate in? I can't imagine the frustration you must go through with these idiots.

It is tough - I dont know why I bother. I truly like debate, discord and exchanging of ideas - but these gymbags just want to take cheap shots, make stuff up - act stupid (are they really acting?).

I try and not let the DELETED get me down - but I hate to let them think they are getting away with any bs.

I am a bit obsessive compulsive by nature (that's a freakin understatement!!!)

The problem is that you will never have an intelligent debate with most BCVoicers. Sad, but true.

It is sad isnt it? it would be such a great place to actually discuss things - agree - disagree - agree to disagree - find common ground. I have many freinds who are republicans and conservatives and we hae a blast and enjoy discussing things. we almosst always find common ground and always come away with respect for each others point of view.

I, too, have great discussions with some of my conservative friends. I am way more liberal than you, Rocco and my friends still can be civil and respectful.

I have mentioned this a couple of times on here. The standard course of debate goes something like this.

Poster 1. : Libtard, froth, demoncrat, froth spittle. www.someinaneblogwithunsubstantiatedrumor.com

Froth froth obama hussein. Froth

Poster 2: Are you sure about that? I found very little on that except from someinsaneblog and its sister site moreinsanitywithin.com

Poster 3: TTR

Poster 4: some made up percentages with no supporting data or even the actual poll.

Poster 2: no really...Can someone point me to where this is the case?

Poster 4: No...look it up yourself.

Rocco : Actually here are some other polls. Look I included links.

Poster 3: TTR

Poster 5: Rocco lies. He once made a mistake. That is all the proof I need that he is a LIEBERAL. Or some other ad hominem attack.

Beck : Oh my god. Rocco doesnt lie. I may not agree with everything he says but here is some more proof.

Poster 3: TTR.

Poster 1: Puts fingers in ears and screams LALALALALALLA
