The meet and greet topic got hi-jacked, so I figured I should start a new topic. I don't understand people sometimes. I commented on the avatar of the woman and her boobs. Never did I say anything negative about it, just that it may be offensive and that I didn't understand how it would be allowed on a public forum. It couldn't be downloaded on myspace as a default picture. I never talked badly about the person who had it, just was posing a question. I assume that someone would use something like that to get a rise out of people. I was repeatedly thrashed for it. It was assumed my breasts had hit the floor. Do People actually read the replies before they fly of the handle? As for the poster, my breasts haven't hit the floor, yet. But gravity is merciless, and in a few years it will be time for a push up. Now my real problem is why people on hear have to trash talk if someone doesn't agree with their beliefs. I don't care about the avatar. It will neither change my life or injury my inner child. I just wanted to know how it was able to be posted on a public forum. I have been reading and occasionally posting for several months on this site. Usually only about positive topics, but I have read many of them at some point. It seems the answer to most of the intelligent threads are infantile and unintelligent. There are many intelligent people that use this site. It is for discussions, and one would think that they should be valuable and intellectual. So why when a controversial topic comes up is it slam after slam instead of an exchange of information so people can make an educated decision. The abortion thread, it starts off with people airing their opinions. Great. The it turns into an ugly, name-calling unintelligable slamming. Not all of it, but a lot. Many threads are like this. It also seems that there is a click that has formed amoung the members and they will gang up on others. It didnt use to be like this, but it seems to be more and more often I see it. It's like they are the cool kids in high school and if you don't agree with them you are an outcast. It disheartening to see something like this message board, which was started so people could voice opinions, get turned into a dictarorship. So everyone has to agree with them or else you must be stupid, fat, ugly, uneducated, live in trailers, unemployed, or on welfare. People will never agree on everything. So why can't adults, and in this forum I use that term loosely, have intelligent, civil discussions? This is what boards are for. People shouldn't wonder why outsiders question the Southern Tiers populations intelligence, if you read some of these posts, you would also.

Well said and your spelling and punctuation ain't half bad either. I am greatly impressed. No pun intended. I think that you would be interested in my latest invention. I have figured out a way to actually flood threads that are hi-jacked by the miscreants that you describe. They would all be drowned like rats and then go sraight to the gates of Hell from whence they came.

I agree with you on a lot of what you said. However, yes, people did start to make comments about the type of person "sellncars" is, and the things they said are not true. Do people on here do things just to get a rise out of other people......absolutely. Kind of like the person who made comments to me that "I must live in a trailer" or whatever they said. Yes, I ignore it sometimes but sometimes I choose to give it right back. I also know that some people post things as guest instead of logging in because they want to instigate matters. Is there a click amongst some people on here......probably but who cares. I have responded and tried to have "conversations" with some people and they never answer me back but trust me, I dont care, it does not hurt my feelings at all. I did post sarcasm on the previous post about the "boobs" but that was just me picking on an old friend, not particularly picking on the other person.

I work on the road and am by myself a lot. Sometimes I come on here for updates and to see how the area is doing. I like to read the intelligent banter, by people that have actual knowledge and can put together a string of sentences to voice said knowledge. I would like to be able to contribute to the conversations, but get disheartened when I see them go steadily down hill, and quickly. There is always going to be someone who has to throw in a statement that's sub-intellectual. It's a form of entertainment for them I suppose, but to me it ruins what was the point of this site. You can have a elementary education and conduct yourself in a method that allows for two polar opinions to be discussed, without being called trailer trash or some other colorful name. I don't understand when people condemn for opinions, someone calling me fat isn't going to make me change my political affiliation. It seems that people set themselves and this area up to look like fools, whilst trying to defend themselves and the area from that stigma. Thank you for your compliments. It's nice to see that here. Let's see how long this lasts before the demeaning begins. Want to place wagers on the number of replies before a under-thought and underwhelming statement is made?

To the OP -- well written, and well said.

I have noticed the same kind of thing lately.

And for the record regarding the avatar -- I have a GREAT set of breasts and have no problem with porn. I just don't understand why that type of avatar is allowed. But, like we have seen first hand --- make a comment about it and the "cool" high school gang starts attacking you personally -- labeling you as a religious nut, telling you to "STFU", etc.

To the OP.

You took the words right out of my mouth, but you said it much more eloquently than I would have. If you are not part of the BCV "clique" you might as well not even bother to come to this forum and heaven forbid if you should make a post. I have even noticed that some posts remain no matter what is said while others are deleted completely for unknown reasons. Guess it just depends what mood the moderators are in as to who's post they delete.

I hope you all have fun with your "intelligent?" bashing. This forum is worthless, I am outta here.

To the OP - Great Post. I noticed the same kind of thing going on. Someone will start a good thread, then it goes downhill. I think some people just want some entertainment because they are bored. Feel that way my self sometimes. Maybe it is a way for people to let off some steam from the stress of the daily grind. Hope you guest(s) can come to the Meet-n-Greet. You are all welcome. I am going to try to make it. Have to work all weekend and if I'm not too tired am going to try real hard to be there. Hope to see some of you there and don't be afraid to post on this forum. Sometimes it gets to me too when people bash what I say. TGIF

To the OP:

Yes, you are correct that sometimes the discussions on the various threads do disintegrate into mindless babble, puns, and innuendos. But on the other hand, this is a PUBLIC FORUM. It does have moderators and they are usually very good at responding to someone if a certain topic or thread is reported to them as being vulgar or inappropriate. As for the Avatar, I have stated before that I find nothing offensive about it. You see more exposed skin on television.

All of you crybabies have to realize that everyone on here are different in many way to include how they react to a post or a response. Just because you respond or comment in a certain manner, doesn't necessarily mean that all other posters have to react the way you do or would like them to. Everyone is different, look at Sleepless in Hillcrest for instance, he is definitely different! Do you castrate his because he is the way he is, no you embrace him and love him (don't get excite Sleepless, it's a figure of speech). All I am saying is that you should have an open mind when frequenting site such as these and grow thicker skin when someone criticizes you for what they interpreted as a dumb comment or a stupid response. When you criticize someone's avatar and they respond with a not so pleasant remark, they are expressing that they weren't real happy with your comment and you should have a little respect for that. Relax, take a deep breath and respond with your true feelings. And REGISTER for Christ's Sake!

CG, unfortunately the thread had to be moved to the registered forum, due to a couple of troublemakers on the board (personally, I enjoy their barbs, but that's just my opinion). I agree with Holly 100%, register!!!! You autograph your posts anyway. It takes less than a minute to register, and it's much easier to post. You're just being lazy, girl. I expect you to be registered today and want to talk to you more about the rescue people.

No, not lazy, just unsure about it. What info do you have to give to register?

I see your point about troublemakers, however, there are a LOT of people who are "guest" and they are not all troublemakers, some seem like pretty decent people.

I would be happy to talk to you more about the animal rescue thing, are you ever available to attend one of the meetings during the week around 7:00 pm? I am still trying to find out when the next one will be so I can let you know. :)

And there we have it, 14th post & the bashing begins.

This aspect of the forum is an unfortunate one, and is the reason I choose not to join. As long as the Voice remains a public forum versus a purely registered forum, the bashing will probably never stop. This forum is like putting up with the rude drivers on the road. There seems to be someone who's always tailgating, ready to honk their horn at you. I guess some people would rather just act obnoxious & rude hiding behind 'guest'. It's more fun than acting like a civil adult!

I also don't get the deep involvement in the discussions by some admins on this site. I do belong to other forums, and moderator involvement in the discussions are minimal. You will be told to get a life on this site however!

You give absolutely no info by registering that they don't already have from a guest post. There's no breach! I never said that all guest posters are trouble...the vast majority aren't. In fact I receive numerous emails daily from "guests". They are anonymous on this board, but I know most of their real names. They are all new friends I talk with, and several have since registered.

REGISTER

Why? are there benefits that we dont know about? I dont even like to provide my ip to forums like this, why would I provide more personal information? Besides, if everybody registered, BCV would get boring.

Let me get this straight, you criticize this site because it is a public forum where you don't have to register and that annoys you. Yet you choose not to register. very interesting point.

See the problem occurs in here when people are guests and can not be held accountable. For instance if I were to come out and voice my opinion against something, i am sending a message to all that i feel a certain way. if you are a guest, you still can voice your opinion, however it does not carry the same message since you can come back on and deny that you said something. or someone else can post and pretend to be you and say some very rude things to others. It's all about accountability. And yes there is a friendly tone with a lot of the registered users on here with each other. we interact on this site with each other daily and know what side we take on issues. when you are a guest, we have no idea who you are and where you stand, thus it is easier to not be as friendly with the non registered users. I do encourage everyone to register. there is no information that you need other than an email address. and everything is confidential. registering was the best thing i did on here...and i guess i am finally one of the cool kids....whoo hoo

Shut up DELETED! I agree with your prior post completely...I've been trying to drive that point home on this board for a long time, but they don't get it...how your posts follow you around, and a "guest" can just leave in the middle of an argument to start again somewhere else. Good point, you fat DELETED!
