Bingking
According to John Solak he is reporting that Marty Smith is endorsing Deb Gelson. Marty endorsed Mara Grace which we all know lost horribly in the 2021 Family Court election. Does Marty still support Mara when she sent out Fraud Mailers claiming the local bar association endorsed her? Lol and the local bar put out a press release denying it, another Mara Failure. Marty Smith also endorsed Mike Korchak and we all can see was another failure candidate. This recent endorsement of Deb Gelson proves Bergman will go on to win this election https://x.com/binghamtondaily/status/1720832628192952495?s=
Uranus
Marty Smith is a raging drunk who doesn't even live in NY anymore. He moved from NY to PA several years ago, yet he still thinks his opinion matters in Broome County. Every election season he resurfaces because he's an egomaniac. His last several candidates have lost. Marty hasn't been on the bench in Broome County in 8 years... when Deb Gelson was still practicing law in New Jersey. Marty claims in his endorsement he has known Gelson for years... but he met her in 2019. Marty has no integrity, and his endorsements are for sale. When you hire his best friend Bernie Sheredy (campaign consultant) you get his endorsement.
Wildcat23
I’m not sure why Marty Smith thinks he’s so blessed with personal greatness that he can resurface every year and tell Broome County residents what to think and who to vote for. Especially when he doesn’t live in Broome County anymore, or even New York State. Keep in mind, Smith was forced into retirement 8 years ago, due to his advancing age and declining cognitive functions.

I wonder if Deb had an open bar at her event, did she even throw a campaign event besides going to Matt Ryan’s event
Alan Dershowitz
Money has been exchanged between Debra Gelson and Bernie Sheredy, hence the Marty Smith endorsement. Marty is most remembered for his drunken antics. Attorneys would watch him walk into Cortese or Uncle Tonys or Tom & Marys and start drinking for lunch. Then they would base their afternoon arguments on how long Marty's liquid lunch lasted. The drunker he was the nicer and more lenient he tended to be. When he was sober or hungover in the mornings he was an asshole. In 2023 he would be removed from the bench. But in the early 1990's that's just how it was. This is the guy who thinks his endorsement means something, the same guy who's legacy is measured by how drunk he was on the bench.
SU75
The Smith endorsement is laughable. A previous poster makes a good point, Gelson wasn't even living in New York State when Smith was last on the bench in 2015. It just shows how little integrity Smith has, put a drink or a few bucks in front of him and he'll endorse anyone. If Gelson can pull off a win, will Korchak be her law clerk? He needs a job, and he's been very supportive of her, letting her leave work to campaign.
Bingking
Seems like this will come down to absentee ballots

QueenB
I'm in shock... Let's hope these absentee and affidavit ballots pull through..
2pelo Honey
City council is saddening as well. Is Binghamton totally blue, and Paul won because of the rest of the county?
Roadkill
Absentees aren't like they used to be. They now count the absentees that have come in on election night with the other votes. In the old days you'd have 3,000 absentee ballots counted a week after the election. The way they started doing it last year, now the only absentees to be counted are the ones that weren't received by Election Day. Absentees can still come in as long as they were postmarked by yesterday. So now instead of counting 3,000 absentees for the entire county, it will be more like 100. So Bergman has to have about 60 votes secured out of the 100 or so to beat Gelson if going by your math. This is doable for Bergman
