MCNailGirl
I have been cracking up and reminiscing reading this entire thread... I remember so many of these places...I used to line up for Schnapp's at Lilliana's!! Bourbon street was a fun bar!! I bought cigs at Salvation Outlet...at age 12!! I worked the concession stand at the Airport Drive In and at Cinema Endicott...where Rite Aid is now... I used to LOVE the 5 and dime store in Union...owned by Laskowski's, and Steadman Antique's next door... I remember getting Shirley Temple's at Copperfield's in the mall... Elk's Bakery had the BEST white cupcakes! Burt's on the Ave used to have a candy shop called Swiss Colony...I used to walk over there at lunch time from U-E and takte the beef log and cheese samples. And they used to have this AWESOME selection of hard candies that were flavored like mixed cocktails...like Whiskey Sour (my fav), Manhattan, rum & Coke, Pina Colada, Strawberry Daquiri...those were SOOOO yummy!!...except my teachers thought I was going out and getting loaded on my lunch break...LOL!!! Oh my god, I remember $10 car load nights at the drive in. I was a senior in high school and my grandparents had given me their old Cadillac. I think we got like 12 people in that car one night, including 2 in the trunk!! And Copperfield's!!! I went there on one of my first "real" dates in high school.
