F. Lee Bailey
Rich David just confirmed on Twitter he tested positive yesterday for Covid-19. Rich David was at the Conference of Mayors meeting in Syracuse when he collapsed in the bathroom and was taken to the hospital. The 4th floor of city hall was shut down last week, due to a Covid case.

ginger
What do you mean he was at the conference of mayors in Syracuse? How many people were there, were they properly distancing or were they schmoozing?

DanCooper
Seems like the kind of drivel that could have been done in a zoom call? Needed to travel to Syracuse to what will likely be known as a super spreader event? Good job, Mayor.

The only thing that has changed is the Clerk's office stopped taking marriage license appointments. Other than that, the Courts and the police department have been open to the public, and they're still open. And David never passed out in the bathroom. Bingoloid
I read this morning that the mayor of Ithaca is also isolating because he was in close contact with David at that conference.

The mayors who have to quarantine are not happy. And they’re telling people what happened. Think about this, you don’t drive to an out of town event, then decide, “it’s time for a Covid test!” You go to a hospital based on a medical emergency. And that’s what happened. DanCooper
Amy Hogan @AmyHoganTV Replying to @AmyHoganTV Update: Jared Kraham from the mayor's office says David was in Skaneateles yesterday and did not feel well. He went to Auburn Community Hospital for tests, one of which was COVID-19. That came back positive and he was kept overnight. He's expected to be discharged this afternoon. Bingoloid
Yeah, seems unlikely they kept him overnight two hours away from home because he merely "did not feel well". "I feel bad" isn't an indicator for hospitalization. Likely he blacked out somewhere when his oxygen levels tanked. I had a colleague who had the same thing happen at home alone before she realized she was sick.

ChristmasT
Why did Rich David schedule this event in Syracuse? Binghamton has very high Covid numbers right now. He did what we aren’t supposed to do, and traveled to another city, and he probably spread the virus. Now 8 other mayors from across NY are quarantined. This effects their cities and their staff and their families. Rich David acted very irresponsibly.
